On December 26th, 2023, my husband and I received the unexpected news that we were having another baby. Although it wasn’t part of our plans, we trusted in God’s purpose. Three months in, our doctors told us our baby boy might have Trisomy 18, a rare condition that often means a baby won’t live past their first year and can lead to severe heart and brain issues. This was something we had never heard of, so we researched and prayed deeply. Despite our specialist’s belief that our baby had this condition and the suggestion to consider termination due to his anticipated quality of life, we held onto our faith and chose to continue the pregnancy, believing in God’s power to perform a miracle. Even if a miracle wasn’t in His plans, I wanted to carry him for as long as I could. I cherished every moment of feeling his kicks, singing to him, and talking to him while he rested in my womb. During a routine checkup, my blood pressure was alarmingly high, and my OB immediately sent me to the hospital, where I was rushed to the hospital for an emergency C-section due to preeclampsia. On July 7th, Kenneth Martin Thomas III aka Baby Tripp was born and gained his angel wings shortly after. I am forever grateful for the eight months I spent carrying and loving my baby boy, and for the precious moment I got to hold him one last time. We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and love we’ve received during this incredibly difficult time. While we will never get over the loss of our baby boy, we will heal and learn to cope with it. Please keep our family, especially our girls, in your prayers as we navigate this painful journey. We trust that God is with us and will continue to comfort us in the days ahead.
