My Gorgeous Girl, gone-too-soon, Darcey Elizabeth Lynne Colby

Finally I fell pregnant with my first baby at only 22 yrs old. We were over the moon. At the 12 week scan we were told something wasn’t right: the nuchal fluid was 7.3. I then had the blood test, and it came back 1 in 12 for Edwards syndrome. I couldn’t believe it. I kept asking myself why us.

We then went for a second scan. We felt so positive seeing a change in our beautiful baby. I had an amniocentesis done; however the three-day test failed, so I waited a long two weeks that felt like a lifetime. Finally I got the dreaded phonecall confirming Edwards syndrome but also that we were having a beautiful girl.

We went into the hospital on the Monday to see the consultant who advised us to terminate the pregnancy. At this point I was 16 weeks pregnant. I took the tablet to start everything off. I went back on the Wednesday and gave birth naturally to our gorgeous girl Darcey Elizabeth Lynne Colby ❤ only weighing 80 grams at 16 weeks 4 days old on 27th of January, 2016. She will always be our little angel, and she will never be forgotten.
